Your Readiness Assessment

Unofficial SAC estimate

Published academy reference

A published average is a comparison point, not a passing minimum or guaranteed outcome.

    Understanding Your Result

    Useful context without invented certainty.

    01

    Published references.

Your results are compared with documented academy averages, applicant-guide goals, or clearly identified shared CFA reference data.

    02

    Practical next targets.

The calculator identifies realistic event improvements instead of treating every weakness as an automatic failure or directing every candidate to the maximum.

    03

    Academy-specific decisions.

Retakes, administrator eligibility, and the way the CFA affects an application vary. The academy’s own instructions and admissions office always control.

    Academy-Specific Reference Standards

Four academies. Four distinct admissions contexts.

Reference data reviewed August 2026. A published average or goal is not an official minimum, passing score, or guarantee of admission.

    U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY

Published Class of 2029 admitted-class CFA means. Current candidate instructions describe additional testing opportunities and consideration of the best complete passing attempt.

    WEST POINT / USMA

Published shared-service CFA reference averages, clearly identified as different from West Point admitted-class means. West Point states that the CFA represents 10% of its application.

    U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY

Class of 2031 applicant-guide performance goals. Current instructions indicate that a first passing CFA submission is final.

    U.S. MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY

Published shared-service CFA reference averages. USMMA’s application instructions describe an academy pass/fail decision rather than a published competitive point score.

For Families Planning the Full Application

Your CFA is one part of a larger admissions strategy.

Service Academy Consulting helps families connect academy selection, application timing, nominations, essays, interviews, and overall competitiveness into a deliberate admissions plan.

Is the complete CFA calculator really free?

Yes. Academy comparisons, your SAC Readiness Index, improvement priorities, practice-attempt history, what-if scenarios, and a downloadable snapshot are free. No account, email address, paid score upgrade, or consultation is required.

Is this my official CFA score or a guaranteed passing result?

No. The SAC Readiness Index is an independent educational estimate. Official scoring, qualification decisions, internal event weights, passing standards, and portal categories belong to each academy. We do not claim access to unpublished formulas.

Why do the academy comparisons differ?

USNA publishes admitted-class mean performance, USAFA provides cycle-specific applicant goals, and the shared CFA instructions used for USMA and USMMA provide broader reference averages. These sources describe different populations and should not be represented as the same dataset.

How are my improvement priorities selected?

The calculator considers your event performance relative to the relevant published reference, a realistic next-step scenario, and the time remaining before your assessment. Near-term preparation generally emphasizes event technique, pacing, and full-sequence rehearsal; a longer timeline creates more room for structured strength and endurance development. These are educational coaching priorities, not guarantees or published academy scoring weights.

Can I save or download my CFA results without sharing personal information?

Yes. Saved practice attempts stay in your current browser, and downloadable snapshots are created on your device. If an optional email follow-up is available, information is shared only after you provide your email address and explicit consent.

Can I retake the Candidate Fitness Assessment?

Policies differ. The Class of 2031 USNA instructions allow additional attempts and consider the best overall passing test. USAFA’s current applicant guide says a first passing submission is final and allows a second attempt after an initial failure. West Point may encourage a retest, and USMMA’s application instructions describe a pass/fail assessment with another attempt permitted after a failure before the stated deadline.

Is the flexed-arm hang scored the same as pull-ups?

No. The flexed-arm hang is an authorized alternative for female candidates under the applicable instructions. Published CFA guidance states that one correctly completed pull-up receives a higher score than any flexed-arm hang. This calculator preserves that distinction.

Does the Coast Guard Academy use this CFA calculator?

No. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy uses its own Physical Fitness Examination rather than the CFA. This calculator is limited to USNA, USMA, USAFA, and USMMA.
